God is the Love in which I forgive

God does not forgive because He has never condemned.

This is one of the great astonishing sentences in A Course In Miracles. God does not forgive?! He doesn’t need forgiveness because He has never condemned. You, on the other hand, condemn and do it all the time. That is why today’s lesson is essential.

Forgiveness is the great need of this world, but that is because it is a world of illusions. Those who forgive are thus releasing themselves from illusions, while those who withhold forgiveness are binding themselves to them. As you condemn only yourself, so do you forgive only yourself.

You do not really believe that you condemn only yourself, because if you did you would never get caught up in condemnation of any kind. You still think that when you laugh at a brother in ridicule, that it doesn’t affect you. You still think that there is something ‘out there’ that needs correction. But all the while Jesus tells you in His Course that there is nothing outside of you, that you are as God created you, that His Peace is yours, that His Love is yours. You only have to let your brother in completely, without condemnation, to realize that he is you and that you have never been separate. Forgiveness is the key to this.

Yet although God does not forgive, His Love is nevertheless the basis of forgiveness. Fear condemns and love forgives. Forgiveness thus undoes what fear has produced, returning the mind to the awareness of God. For this reason, forgiveness can truly be called salvation. It is the means by which illusions disappear.

If forgiveness is the means by which illusions disappear, why would you hesitate? Why would you wait an instant longer? Don’t be fooled by the little bit of light that you experience, go for the whole deal. You can’t do this without your brother, because he is you. Let him in today, let him in completely. Trust him completely. Just love him.

God is the Love in which I forgive you.

This is your salvation. Now every grievance, every worry, every idea you hold true is replaced with this one beautiful thought that lets you remember:

God is the Love in which I forgive myself.

Great thoughts are given you for today, and they are all about your forgiveness of yourself. Use them, apply them, they are all that matters. And in your application you will see the world change, and you will realize happily that the world is indeed a reflection of your thoughts. This is your salvation. This is your awakening.

I cannot be guilty because I am a Son of God.
I have already been forgiven.
No fear is possible in a mind beloved of God.
There is no need to attack because love has forgiven me.
