I will there be light

Today’s lesson is a review lesson:

I will there be light.
There is no will but God’s.

These aren’t just words. It is an actual expression of your desire, your determination, to listen to the Voice for God. To not rely on your own ideas, no matter how lofty they seem to be. To not make any decisions for yourself.

Light shall be my guide today. I will follow it where it leads me, and I will look only on what it shows me.

Jesus is not asking you here to rely on yourself alone. He is not saying, ‘You don’t need me or God.’ There is a certain humility asked of you, which reveals to you your strength. There is a quiet recognition that you don’t know, in which all knowledge is revealed to you. You ask what love is, so that it can be revealed to you that you are Love. You can’t figure this out. Thank God. Just ask for help.

This is part of God’s Will for me, however I may see it.
This cannot hide the light I will to see.

What does it mean to be a Teacher of God? You can’t possibly know. It’s not about relying on friendships, on being liked, on knowing the right people. It is a complete reliance on God. Jesus is never asking you to judge your brother, or to decide against him. Charity is the greatestĀ  gift of all. When your brother asks you for help, you immediately turn to the Holy Spirit for guidance and ask Him how you can be most helpful. You don’t rely on your own ideas, not even a quote from the Course. You are simply right here and right now. Stand with your brother for a moment, recognize that he is you and that you have a singular purpose. Be still for a moment and let the words come to you. You will be utterly amazed at their beauty and wisdom. The words you speak to your brother are your gift to yourself. Ask for help today, never assume you know. It is a giant step in your awakening.
