Review Lesson 86

It is holy week, and on this day you are reviewing lessons 71 and 72. As you look at the teachings of Jesus leading up to His Resurrection, you see that the New Testament and A Course In Miracles offer the same message.

71. Only God’s plan for salvation will work.
It is senseless for me to search wildly about for salvation. I have seen it in many people and in many things, but when I reached for it, it was not there. I was mistaken about where it is. I was mistaken about what it is. I will undertake no more idle seeking. Only God’s plan for salvation will work. And I will rejoice because His plan can never fail.
These are some suggested forms for applying this idea specifically:

God’s plan for salvation will save me from my perception of this.
This is no exception in God’s plan for my salvation.
Let me perceive this only in the light of God’s plan for salvation.

This is no different than the first commandment ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength’. It’s a total commitment. Jesus’ final words before His Resurrection were, ‘Father, into Thy Hands I command my spirit’. It’s a surrender. Finally you are tired of being right about anything, you simply recognize that you need help.

72. Holding grievances is an attack on God’s plan for salvation.
Holding grievances is an attempt to prove that God’s plan for salvation will not work. Yet only His plan will work. By holding grievances, I am therefore excluding my only hope of salvation from my awareness. I would no longer defeat my own best interests in this insane way. I would accept God’s plan for salvation, and be happy.
Specific applications for this idea might be in these forms:

I am choosing between misperception and salvation as I look on this.
If I see grounds for grievances in this, I will not see the grounds for my salvation.
This calls for salvation, not attack.

Thou shalt love thy neigbor as thyself. This is the second commandment, and it is your salvation. Any grievance you have, will bind you to the world you see. Do you really want what you have made? There is another world that is available to you, another way of seeing, another way of thinking. You have to want it above all else. Ask and you shall receive. Jesus is walking with you and there is no greater time than right now to remember that He is risen and that you are risen with Him.

The Light Has Come

Today you are looking at the review lessons in the recognition that this is your holy week. This is the last week of Jesus Christ on earth, before He resurrected. And this is what He says about it in your Course In Miracles:

This week begins with palms and ends with lilies, the white and holy sign the Son of God is innocent. Let no dark sign of crucifixion intervene between the journey and its purpose; between the acceptance of the truth and its expression.  This week we celebrate life, not death. And we honor the perfect purity of the Son of God, and not his sins. Offer your brother the gift of lilies, not the crown of thorns; the gift of love and not the “gift” of fear. You stand beside your brother, thorns in one hand and lilies in the other, uncertain which to give. Join now with me and throw away the thorns, offering the lilies to replace them. This Easter I would have the gift of your forgiveness offered by you to me, and returned by me to you. We cannot be united in crucifixion and in death. Nor can the resurrection be complete till your forgiveness rests on Christ, along with mine.

Jesus is asking you this week to resurrect along with Him. Reading the Course He makes it clear to you that the crucifixion is not His message to you, but that the resurrection is. His resurrection is your resurrection. Every time you offer forgiveness to a brother, you offer it to Him. He asks for your forgiveness, so that He may return it to you. This is the completion of the resurrection. And this is what you practice today.

The light has come.
In choosing salvation rather than attack, I merely choose to recognize what is already there. Salvation is a decision made already. Attack and grievances are not there to choose. That is why I always choose between truth and illusion; between what is there and what is not. The light has come. I can but choose the light, for it has no alternative. It has replaced the darkness, and the darkness has gone.

I am under no laws but God’s.
Here is the perfect statement of my freedom. I am under no laws but God’s. I am constantly tempted to make up other laws and give them power over me. I suffer only because of my belief in them. They have no real effect on me at all. I am perfectly free of the effects of all laws save God’s. And His are the laws of freedom.

This is your holy week. This is your resurrection. Jesus is with you now. Allow Him to show you what this Holy Week truly means and how it can be used for your awakening. The light is with you. The light has come. You are under no laws but God’s and not restricted by time and space in any way. The resurrection is happening here and now, it is happening in you. Let this be your experience and let it be extremely personal: it is between you and God.
