By Grace I Live. By Grace I Am Released.

By Grace I Live.

Grace is an aspect of the Love of God which is most like the state prevailing in the unity of truth. It is the world’s most lofty aspiration, for it leads beyond the world entirely. It is past learning, yet the goal of learning, for grace cannot come until the mind prepares itself for true acceptance. Grace becomes inevitable instantly in those who have prepared a table where it can be gently laid and willingly received; an altar clean and holy for the gift.

Today you are asked to accept the grace of God. It is something that is available to you this instant. But before you can accept it, you need to take a look at what the grace of God actually is. A Course In Miracles  is reasonable, it works with your mind, because you are only mind. The thought that is given you for the day, in the workbook, is always something to read, think about, practice, apply to your mind. In this action something happens that is not of you. It is given in the little willingness to keep your mind open so all things can be revealed to you anew.

Grace is acceptance of the Love of God within a world of seeming hate and fear. By grace alone the hate and fear are gone, for grace presents a state so opposite to everything the world contains, that those whose minds are lighted by the gift of grace can not believe the world of fear is real.

Grace is not learned. The final step must go beyond all learning. Grace is not the goal this course aspires to attain. Yet we prepare for grace in that an open mind can hear the Call to waken. It is not shut tight against God’s Voice. It has become aware that there are things it does not know, and thus is ready to accept a state completely different from experience with which it is familiarly at home.

Grace is really a state of mind, an acceptance and not a doing. It’s not an assertion of any kind. It is the willingness to let all things be exactly as they are and to experience a grace that has nothing to do with the world you see. You can see things differently, but the change of mind is not of you. It happens when you least expect it and in a way you can’t imagine. It is a personal experience, between you and God, in the acceptance of total responsibility for the world you see.

Oneness is simply the idea God is. And in His Being, He encompasses all things. No mind holds anything but Him. We say “God is,” and then we cease to speak, for in that knowledge words are meaningless. There are no lips to speak them, and no part of mind sufficiently distinct to feel that it is now aware of something not itself. It has united with its Source. And like its Source Itself, it merely is.

We cannot speak nor write nor even think of this at all. It comes to every mind when total recognition that its will is God’s has been completely given and received completely. It returns the mind into the endless present, where the past and future cannot be conceived. It lies beyond salvation; past all thought of time, forgiveness and the holy face of Christ. The Son of God has merely disappeared into his Father, as his Father has in him. The world has never been at all. Eternity remains a constant state.

How can you conceive of what lies beyond salvation, beyond time, forgiveness and the face of Christ? You can’t. But there is one who walks with you, who is eager to give you all things that you have looked for since the beginning of time. In the acceptance of the atonement, you experience yourself as God created you. This is what is offered you. Intellectually you can’t grasp it, no matter how hard you try. And the more you try to hold your world, your life as you conceive of it, together, the more it will fall apart on you. It is meant to. Let it be. This is not a doing, it is an undoing.

This is beyond experience we try to hasten. Yet forgiveness, taught and learned, brings with it the experiences which bear witness that the time the mind itself determined to abandon all but this is now at hand. We do not hasten it, in that what you will offer was concealed from Him Who teaches what forgiveness means.

You finally recognize that there is nothing you can do to bring your experience about, other than the simple instructions Jesus gives you in the workbook. Anything you try to do to hasten it, only slows it down. The more you try to grasp it, the more it slips through your fingers. The more comfortable you get, the more you will be dislodged. It is not for the faint of heart, but this is why you have been chosen. You have the determination and the perseverance, somewhere in you there is a willingness to be wrong about everything, and in the letting go of everything you now believe, you experience the peace and love and grace of God.

There is no need to further clarify what no one in the world can understand. When revelation of your oneness comes, it will be known and fully understood. Now we have work to do, for those in time can speak of things beyond, and listen to words which explain what is to come is past already. Yet what meaning can the words convey to those who count the hours still, and rise and work and go to sleep by them?

Suffice it, then, that you have work to do to play your part. The ending must remain obscure to you until your part is done. It does not matter. For your part is still what all the rest depends on. As you take the role assigned to you, salvation comes a little nearer each uncertain heart that does not beat as yet in tune with God.

You have a part to play. Nothing can happen until you step in to your full responsibility as teacher of God, whatever that looks like. You have to give your experience away. This is not about exchange, it is about the recognition that you are giving only to yourself. And as you give that which you can’t speak of, you experience how you receive what you give. And you know this Course to be true.

Our learning goal today does not exceed this prayer. Yet in the world, what could be more than what we ask this day of Him Who gives the grace we ask, as it was given Him?

By grace I live. By grace I am released.
By grace I give. By grace I will release.

Light And Joy And Peace Abide In Me

You think you are the home of evil, darkness and sin. You think if anyone could see the truth about you he would be repelled, recoiling from you as if from a poisonous snake. You think if what is true about you were revealed to you, you would be struck with horror so intense that you would rush to death by your own hand, living on after seeing this being impossible.

These are beliefs so firmly fixed that it is difficult to help you see that they are based on nothing. That you have made mistakes is obvious. That you have sought salvation in strange ways; have been deceived, deceiving and afraid of foolish fantasies and savage dreams; and have bowed down to idols made of dust,–all this is true by what you now believe.

Reading the first sentences in today’s lesson, it may strike you how visual it really is. Jesus, in the New Testament, uses parables, stories and symbols you can relate to. Today he uses the visual ‘recoiling from you as if from a poisonous snake’. Look at it for a moment, see it as it is expressed. This is what you believe will happen when you express the truth of who you are. Not only that, you will be ‘struck with horror so intense’, all very negative connotations, and all equally meaningless.

Now Jesus leads you gently into this belief system that you value so dearly and he shows you what it offers you: the belief that you have made mistakes, that you are strange, deceived, deceiving and afraid, that you have let yourself be misled by idols. Looking around in this circle of littleness within your own mind, you may well ask yourself how you can get out if this belief system. You are not alone in this. Jesus is with you.

Today we question this, not from the point of view of what you think, but from a very different reference point, from which such idle thoughts are meaningless. These thoughts are not according to God’s Will. These weird beliefs He does not share with you. This is enough to prove that they are wrong, but you do not perceive that this is so.

Why would you not be overjoyed to be assured that all the evil that you think you did was never done, that all your sins are nothing, that you are as pure and holy as you were created, and that light and joy and peace abide in you Your image of yourself cannot withstand the Will of God. You think that this is death, but it is life. You think you are destroyed, but you are saved.

You are brought to zero, to the place where you let it all go. There is no belief, no judgment, no idea to hold on to. The image you hold of yourself, your identity, is not who you truly are. It is being erased, undone. You think it is death, but it is life. And the amazing thing of it is, that in this undoing, as you come to life, you realize you’re still you. This can’t be explained. You remember who you truly are, beyond this world, beyond any limited self-identity.

The self you made is not the Son of God. Therefore, this self does not exist at all. And anything it seems to do and think means nothing. It is neither bad nor good. It is unreal, and nothing more than that. It does not battle with the Son of God. It does not hurt him, nor attack his peace. It has not changed creation, nor reduced eternal sinlessness to sin, and love to hate. What power can this self you made possess, when it would contradict the Will of God?

Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. Over and over this must be repeated, until it is accepted. It is true. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. Nothing can touch it, or change what God created as eternal. The self you made, evil and full of sin, is meaningless. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God, and light and joy and peace abide in you.

As you read this lesson, and apply it to your mind, you start to feel the light and joy and peace it offers you. The words express the truth of you. You feel all your old ideas fall away, and new ones instantly take their place. You recognize them immediately, they are new and yet ancient. You remember them well. All this lesson offers is an undoing of your old thought system, so that the Thought of God can take its place.

Salvation requires the acceptance of but one thought;–you are as God created you, not what you made of yourself.  Whatever evil you may think you did, you are as God created you. Whatever mistakes you made, the truth about you is unchanged. Creation is eternal and unalterable. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. You are and will forever be exactly as you were created. Light and joy and peace abide in you because God put them there.

In our longer exercise periods today, which would be most profitable if done for the first five minutes of every waking hour, begin by stating the truth about your creation:

Light and joy and peace abide in me.
My sinlessness is guaranteed by God.

Then put away your foolish self-images, and spend the rest of the practice period in trying to experience what God has given you, in place of what you have decreed for yourself.

As you practice these words, let the experience be formless. Don’t try to figure out what the words mean, or what it is that you are being led to. It will reveal itself to you effortlessly if you simply step back. Say the words and let them work in you. Let them reveal their truth to you. As Jesus says in A Course In Miracles ‘resign now as your own teacher’. Be willing not to know. In that instant all knowledge can be revealed to you.

You are what God created or what you made. One Self is true; the other is not there. Try to experience the unity of your one Self. Try to appreciate Its Holiness and the love from which It was created. Try not to interfere with the Self which God created as you, by hiding Its majesty behind the tiny idols of evil and sinfulness you have made to replace It. Let It come into Its Own. Here you are; This is You. And light and joy and peace abide in you because this is so.

I Will Not Fear To Look Within Today

Today’s lesson is so great, because it directs you to your Self. It is the simple recognition that the truth is in you and that all your problems have already been solved. Because when you stand in this moment, when you look within and recognize your innocence, there is no past and there is no future. There is only right now. And in this moment, in this holy instant, you stand in the present memory of the Love of your Father.

Within me is eternal innocence, because it is God’s Will that it be there forever and forever. I, His Son, whose will is limitless as is His Own, can will no change in this. For to deny my Father’s Will is to deny my own. To look within is but to find my will as God created it, and as it is. I fear to look within because I think I made another will that is not true, and made it real. Yet it has no effects. Within me is the Holiness of God. Within me is the memory of Him.

The Workbook of A Course In Miracles, and the lessons contained in it, are always only directed to you and how you use your mind. The lessons are very practical. The first 50 lessons point to your seeing, your thinking, your understanding, your determination. These are all in you. And as you go within, and look without fear, you can see how you are using your mind and what you are using it for. And in that moment you can decide to change your mind, to apply it differently, and all the angels rush in to help you. Because you are never alone. Within you is the Holiness of God, within you is the Holy Spirit who helps you when you ask, within you is the perfect memory of God, with you walks Jesus who tells you that you are resurrected with Him. So go within today, look there with open eyes and remember your holiness and sinlessness as you were created by God.

The step I take today, my Father, is my sure release from idle dreams of sin. Your altar stands serene and undefiled. It is the holy altar to my Self, and there I find my true Identity.

Look Within And Find Me There

The experience of the presence of Jesus is a very personal one. This is why A Course In Miracles is so amazing. Jesus actually tells you that He is with you, in no uncertain terms.

When I said “I am with you always,” I meant it literally.  I am not absent to anyone in any situation.  Because I am always with you, you are the way, the truth and the life.

This goes way beyond the iconic figure of the Bible. Jesus is asking you not to see Him as an idol, but to recognize that you are the savior of the world. That He is walking with you every step of the way.

Since all illusions of salvation have failed you, surely you do not want to remain in the clouds, looking vainly for idols there, when you could so easily walk on into the light of real salvation. Try to pass the clouds by whatever means appeals to you. If it helps you, think of me holding your hand and leading you. And I assure you this will be no idle fantasy.

Amazing. Jesus is with you right here and right now. Are you using Him? Are you asking for help? His answer is,  “Look within and find me there.” It’s astonishing in it’s simplicity. There is no long search, no intense study of the Bible. If you need an answer, just ask Him. His presence is reassuring and the experience of the peace of God. He knows you perfectly well and He understands what is happening to you.

I take the journey with you. For I share your doubts and fears a little while, that you may come to me who recognize the road by which all fears and doubts are overcome. We walk together. I must understand uncertainty and pain, although I know they have no meaning. Yet a savior must remain with those he teaches, seeing what they see, but still retaining in his mind the way that led him out, and now will lead you out with him.

So, you have a function. You are being undone and you are not alone in this. Whenever you are afraid, call on Jesus. Whenever you worry, you can find Him there. Whenever you are in pain, He reminds you it is not so. And whenever you are happy, He rejoices with you. What an incredible experience. It is very personal, between Jesus and you, and it is very real.

The Decision For God

Every moment you make a decision between God or the ego, between heaven or hell. It is really that simple. A Course In Miracles is not complicated, Jesus tells you the same thing over and over again. That you are as God created you, that you can’t change who you are even though you believe you can. To stand at the place of impossibility, to see how you have made up an image of yourself that has nothing to do with reality, to recognize that you don’t understand anything you see: that is the moment you see that you are completely and utterly dependent on God.

Do you really believe you can make a voice that can drown out God’s? Do you really believe you can devise a thought system that can separate you from Him? Do you really believe you can plan for your safety and joy better than He can? You need be neither careful nor careless; you need merely cast your cares upon Him because He careth for you. You are His care because He loves you. His Voice reminds you always that all hope is yours because of His care. You cannot choose to escape His care because that is not His Will, but you can choose to accept His care and use the infinite power of His care for all those He created by it.

You did believe that you could make a voice that can drown out God’s. You did believe that you can devise a thought system that can separate you from Him. You did believe that you can plan for your safety and joy better than God. Amazing when you really look at it. You have been fighting a losing battle and the only outcome has been pain, sickness and death. Today you make a new decision. The decision for God.

The time is now. You have not been asked to work out the plan of salvation yourself because, as I told you before, the remedy could not be of your making. God Himself gave you the perfect Correction for everything you made that is not in accord with His holy Will. I am making His plan perfectly explicit to you, and will also tell you of your part in it, and how urgent it is to fulfill it. God weeps at the “sacrifice” of His children who believe they are lost to Him.

You are perfectly taken care of, each and every moment. If you are not aware of it, you can at this moment decide to go inward and ask to be shown. You are more powerful than you think. All things are available to you right here and right now, if you only ask for them. This is not about little things, it is about the allness of it. It is about your mind, the willingness to hand everything over and to let changes happen as they need to occur.

Decision cannot be difficult. This is obvious, if you realize that you must already have decided not to be wholly joyous if that is how you feel. Therefore, the first step in the undoing is to recognize that you actively decided wrongly, but can as actively decide otherwise. Be very firm with yourself in this, and keep yourself fully aware that the undoing process, which does not come from you, is nevertheless within you because God placed it there. Your part is merely to return your thinking to the point at which the error was made, and give it over to the Atonement in peace. Say this to yourself as sincerely as you can, remembering that the Holy Spirit will respond fully to your slightest invitation:

I must have decided wrongly, because I am not at peace.
I made the decision myself, but I can also decide otherwise.
I want to decide otherwise, because I want to be at peace.
I do not feel guilty, because the Holy Spirit will undo all the consequences of my wrong decision if I will let Him.
I choose to let Him, by allowing Him to decide for God for me.

You have been given the tools to your happiness, literally. The words are here on the page, given you to speak. This is not hard, it only takes a little willingness to admit that you have been wrong and that you are open to correction. Transformation is undoing. It is the undoing of every idea, every thought, the past and future, your identity as someone separate from God. It is not so. Today you can decide differently. Today you decide for God and let all things happen as they will and as they did. Invite Him with the words given you and trust He will be there for you. Because He is.

Physical Resurrection

This is your Easter time and you remember in love and gratitude the resurrection of Jesus and yours. It is an awareness of something that happened 2000 years ago and that is happening in you now. In that is the collapse of time. There is only right here and right now. The resurrection is happening in you now or it is not happening at all. This is the message that Jesus is giving you.

My body disappeared because I had no illusion about it. The last one had gone. It was laid in the tomb, but there was nothing left to bury. It did not disintegrate because the unreal cannot die. It merely became what it always was. And that is what “rolling the stone away” means. The body disappears, and no longer hides what lies beyond. It merely ceases to interfere with vision. To roll the stone away is to see beyond the tomb, beyond death, and to understand the body’s nothingness. What is understood as nothing must disappear.

I did assume a human form with human attributes afterwards, to speak to those who were to prove the body’s worthlessness to the world. This has been much misunderstood. I came to tell them that death is illusion, and the mind that made the body can make another since form itself is an illusion. They did not understand. But now I talk to you and give you the same message. The death of an illusion means nothing. It disappears when you awaken and decide to dream no more. And you still do have the power to make this decision as I did.

God holds out His hand to His Son to help him rise and return to Him. I can help because the world is illusion, and I have overcome the world. Look past the tomb, the body, the illusion. Have faith in nothing but the spirit and the guidance God gives you. He could not have created the body because it is a limit. He must have created the spirit because it is immortal. Can those who are created like Him be limited? The body is the symbol of the world. Leave it behind. It cannot enter Heaven. But I can take you there any time that you choose. Together we can watch the world disappear and its symbol vanish as it does so. And then, and then — I cannot speak of that.

A body can not stay without illusion and the last one to be overcome is death. This is the message of the crucifixion; There is no order of difficulties in miracles. This is the message of the resurrection: Illusions are illusions. Truth is true. Illusions vanish. Only truth remains.

These lessons needed to be taught but once, for when the stone of death is rolled away, what can be seen but an empty tomb? And that is what you see who follow me into the sunlight and away from death, past all illusions, on to Heaven’s gate, where God will come Himself to take you home.

Be in this awareness today, stand in the resurrection, your resurrection, along with your savior Jesus Christ. You have been given everything to awaken from your strange nightmare of sin, disaster, pain and death. Jesus is risen, He tells you this. Stand with Him and experience your own resurrection right here and right now.

Light and Joy and Peace abide in me

Salvation requires the acceptance of but one thought; – you are as God created you, not what you made of yourself Whatever evil you may think you did, you are as God created you. Whatever mistakes you made, the truth about you is unchanged. Creation is eternal and unalterable. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. You are and will forever be exactly as you were created. Light and joy and peace abide in you because God put them there.

Good Friday

Today is Good Friday and it is the day you decide to go beyond the story of the crucifixion and remember the resurrection. Jesus is very clear about this in his Course In Miracles.

The journey to the cross should be the last “useless journey.” Do not dwell upon it, but dismiss it as accomplished. If you can accept it as your own last useless journey, you are also free to join my resurrection. Until you do so your life is indeed wasted. It merely re-enacts the separation, the loss of power, the futile attempts of the ego at reparation, and finally the crucifixion of the body, or death. Such repetitions are endless until they are voluntarily given up. Do not make the pathetic error of “clinging to the old rugged cross.” The only message of the crucifixion is that you can overcome the cross. Until then you are free to crucify yourself as often as you choose. This is not the gospel I intended to offer you. We have another journey to undertake, and if you will read these lessons carefully they will help prepare you to undertake it.
~ Ch.4 The illusions of the ego

It couldn’t be more clear that it is indeed Jesus who is giving you A Course In Miracles, and He is trying to tell you something. The first chapters are loaded with clarifications of the New Testament, and they are indeed helpful to you in your awakening. If you believe that the world you see is real, if you believe that you are bound by the laws of the world, if you believe that your brother is separate from you, you are crucifying yourself. You are binding yourself to a heavy cross. You don’t have to do it anymore. The choice is yours.

Miracles are seen in light, and light and strength are one.

It is God’s strength in you that is the light in which you see, as it is His Mind with which you think. His strength denies your weakness. It is your weakness that sees through the body’s eyes, peering about in darkness to behold the likeness of itself; the small, the weak, the sickly and the dying, those in need, the helpless and afraid, the sad, the poor, the starving and the joyless. These are seen through eyes that cannot see and cannot bless.

Strength overlooks these things by seeing past appearances. It keeps its steady gaze upon the light that lies beyond them. It unites with light, of which it is a part. It sees itself. It brings the light in which your Self appears. In darkness you perceive a self that is not there. Strength is the truth about you; weakness is an idol falsely worshipped and adored that strength may be dispelled, and darkness rule where God appointed that there should be light.

Jesus is asking you to stand with Him in His resurrection, as He is standing with you today. You are not alone in this, the whole universe responds to your single decision, your little willingness, to let go of the world as you see it and to remember your creation as the holy Son of God.

My resurrection comes again each time I lead a brother safely to the place at which the journey ends and is forgot.  I am renewed each time a brother learns there is a way from misery and pain. I am reborn each time a brother’s mind turns to the light in him and looks for me. I have forgotten no one. Help me now to lead you back to where the journey was begun, to make another choice with me.
~ Workbook review V

God is my Source. I cannot see apart from Him.

Perception is not an attribute of God. His is the realm of knowledge. Yet He has created the Holy Spirit as the Mediator between perception and knowledge. Without this link with God, perception would have replaced knowledge forever in your mind. With this link with God, perception will become so changed and purified that it will lead to knowledge. That is its function as the Holy Spirit sees it. Therefore, that is its function in truth.

Today’s lesson offers you the clarification that perception, the way you see now, has nothing to do with God. The body’s eyes do not see, simply because you actively sequence past and future and therefore never see things as they are now. Everything you see with your eyes you link to a past reference or an expectation of the future. This is not seeing.

In God you cannot see. Perception has no function in God, and does not exist. Yet in salvation, which is the undoing of what never was, perception has a mighty purpose. Made by the Son of God for an unholy purpose, it must become the means for the restoration of his holiness to his awareness. Perception has no meaning. Yet does the Holy Spirit give it a meaning very close to God’s. Healed perception becomes the means by which the Son of God forgives his brother, and thus forgives himself.

In His resurrection Jesus gave you the Holy Spirit. Thank God for Him. It is an absolute miracle. Without the Holy Spirit you would be going around in circles forever, stuck in your circular reasoning. The Holy Spirit will use everything that you have made for an unholy purpose and use it for your holiness. At any moment, right now, and in any situation, right here, you can call on the Holy Spirit and see through the eyes of forgiveness.

You cannot see apart from God because you cannot be apart from God. Whatever you do you do in Him, because whatever you think, you think with His Mind. If vision is real, and it is real to the extent to which it shares the Holy Spirit’s purpose, then you cannot see apart from God.

Today you are remembering your true Inheritance. You are as God created you. God is your Source. You cannot see apart from Him. There is a place in you where you remember God perfectly well, because you are never separate from Him. The workbook lessons are given you to take a time-out in your busy day, to stop for a moment, and remember God.

God is my Source. I cannot see this desk apart from Him
God is my Source. I cannot see that picture apart from Him.

God is in everything you see, because He is your Source. Everything you see, you see in Him. Everything you do, you do in Him. Let that be your holy purpose today.

I see through the eyes of forgiveness
I see the world as blessed
The world can show me myself
I see my own thoughts, which are like God’s.

Isn’t this a better way of looking than how you have used your eyes before? Allow the Holy Spirit to use your perception to show you God. He is in everything you see, because He is in your mind. You can think holy thoughts, because God goes with you wherever you go. You are saved and you can save. Complete salvation lies in the lesson for today.

God is my Source. I cannot see apart from Him.

My holiness is my salvation

If guilt is hell, what is its opposite? Like the text for which this workbook was written, the ideas used for the exercises are very simple, very clear and totally unambiguous. We are not concerned with intellectual feats nor logical toys. We are dealing only in the very obvious, which has been overlooked in the clouds of complexity in which you think you think.

Jesus makes it very clear to you in A Course In Miracles that your understanding is not required. Anything you offer in the idea that it is helpful, actually hampers you in reality. You, as you see yourself within a body and an identity in space and time, can bring nothing to the totality that is God. God is whole in and of Himself, and you are created in His likeness. Your holiness remains untouched by any intellectual feats or logical toys. It is time to put your toys away. The message of this course is very simple, and the application of the workbook lesson has no complexity whatsoever. Simply do as you are told. You get out of the way, ask for help, and follow instructions. It is really that simple.

Your holiness is the answer to every question that was ever asked, is being asked now, or will be asked in the future.
Your holiness means the end of guilt, and therefore the end of hell.
Your holiness is the salvation of the world, and your own.

How could you to whom your holiness belongs be excluded from it? God does not know unholiness.
Can it be He does not know His Son?

This lesson is incredible, every sentence is immaculate and an immediate confrontation. I am grateful that this morning I was offered a beautiful example of pure dedication and willingness. This lesson does work. Immerse yourself in it, trust it, follow instructions, do as you are told, and you will get the immediate result that is not of this world. You can see it as a weapon, given you by God, to use when thoughts of anger and depression arise.

My unloving thoughts about ___ are keeping me in hell
My holiness is my salvation.

This is just about you, not anybody else, because there isn’t anybody else. Only your thoughts affect you. You wouldn’t be affected by figures in a dream if you knew that you were dreaming. They can be as vicious as they may, they could have no effect on you unless you failed to realize that this is your world. Your inner world is the cause of your perception of the outer world. Only your thoughts affect you, and today you have been given the key to your salvation and the salvation of the world.

My holiness is my salvation.

I could see peace instead of this

Great lesson for today. Practice it and feel it working in you.

Peace of mind is clearly an internal matter. It must begin with your own thoughts, and then extend outward. It is from your peace of mind that a peaceful perception of the world arises.

Whatever thought arises in you, you can use it for the lesson.

I could see peace instead of this.

I could see peace in this situation instead of what I now see in it.

I can replace my feelings of depression, anxiety or worry [or my thoughts about this situation, personality or event] with peace.

These lessons do work. Jesus says in the Urtext, ‘Ask me first.’ Before you do anything, you just check in with Jesus, He is with you always. Applying the lesson is the same thing. Before you respond to anything, repeat the lesson. Before you undertake any action, repeat the lesson. You know now not to count on anything that you have taught yourself, because you have taught yourself badly. Your good intentions avail you nothing, your good ideas bind you to the world you see. It is enough to know that this world has no reality, it is a reflection of your mind and you see in it what you want to see. The only good advice you can give your brother is to do the lesson for today, to direct him towards the peace of God that is inside him. Because by reminding him you are reminding yourself.

I could see peace instead of this.
