Jesus Speaks On His Physical Resurrection

He is risen indeed

My body disappeared because I had no illusion about it. The last one had gone. It was laid in the tomb, but there was nothing left to bury. It did not disintegrate because the unreal cannot die. It merely became what it always was. And that is what “rolling the stone away” means. The body disappears, and no longer hides what lies beyond. It merely ceases to interfere with vision. To roll the stone away is to see beyond the tomb, beyond death, and to understand the body’s nothingness. What is understood as nothing must disappear.

I did assume a human form with human attributes afterwards, to speak to those who were to prove the body’s worthlessness to the world. This has been much misunderstood. I came to tell them that death is illusion, and the mind that made the body can make another since form itself is an illusion. They did not understand. But now I talk to you and give you the same message. The death of an illusion  means nothing. It disappears when you awaken and decide to dream no more. And you still do have the power to make this decision as I did.

God holds out His hand to His Son to help him rise and return to Him. I can help because the world is illusion, and I have overcome the world. Look past the tomb, the body, the illusion. Have faith in nothing but the spirit and the guidance God gives you. He could not have created the body because it is a limit. He must have created the spirit because it is immortal. Can those who are created like Him be limited? The body is the symbol of the world. Leave it behind. It cannot enter Heaven. But I can take you there any time that you choose. Together we can watch the world disappear and its symbol vanish as it does so. And then, and then — I cannot speak of that.

A body can not stay without illusion and the last one to be overcome is death. This is the message of the crucifixion; There is no order of difficulties in miracles. This is the message of the resurrection: Illusions are illusions. Truth is true. Illusions vanish. Only truth remains.

These lessons needed to be taught but once, for when the stone of death is rolled away, what can be seen but an empty tomb? And that is what you see who follow me into the sunlight and away from death, past all illusions, on to Heaven’s gate, where God will come Himself to take you home.

Review Lesson 86

holyweek

It is holy week, and on this day you are reviewing lessons 71 and 72. As you look at the teachings of Jesus leading up to His Resurrection, you see that the New Testament and A Course In Miracles offer the same message.

71. Only God’s plan for salvation will work.
It is senseless for me to search wildly about for salvation. I have seen it in many people and in many things, but when I reached for it, it was not there. I was mistaken about where it is. I was mistaken about what it is. I will undertake no more idle seeking. Only God’s plan for salvation will work. And I will rejoice because His plan can never fail.
These are some suggested forms for applying this idea specifically:

God’s plan for salvation will save me from my perception of this.
This is no exception in God’s plan for my salvation.
Let me perceive this only in the light of God’s plan for salvation.

This is no different than the first commandment ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength’. It’s a total commitment. Jesus’ final words before His Resurrection were, ‘Father, into Thy Hands I command my spirit’. It’s a surrender. Finally you are tired of being right about anything, you simply recognize that you need help.

72. Holding grievances is an attack on God’s plan for salvation.
Holding grievances is an attempt to prove that God’s plan for salvation will not work. Yet only His plan will work. By holding grievances, I am therefore excluding my only hope of salvation from my awareness. I would no longer defeat my own best interests in this insane way. I would accept God’s plan for salvation, and be happy.
Specific applications for this idea might be in these forms:

I am choosing between misperception and salvation as I look on this.
If I see grounds for grievances in this, I will not see the grounds for my salvation.
This calls for salvation, not attack.

Thou shalt love thy neigbor as thyself. This is the second commandment, and it is your salvation. Any grievance you have, will bind you to the world you see. Do you really want what you have made? There is another world that is available to you, another way of seeing, another way of thinking. You have to want it above all else. Ask and you shall receive. Jesus is walking with you and there is no greater time than right now to remember that He is risen and that you are risen with Him.

You are the light of the world

There is no doubt that once your awakening begins, there is no turning back. Not really. The carpet literally rolls up behind you. The past is gone, you are brand new every moment. This is not for the faint of heart.

Enter through the narrow door, for wide is the door,
and numerous are those who go that way.
But it is the constricting door and the narrow path
that lead to life everlasting,
and few are those that find it.

That’s just one of the great quotes from Matthew. Jesus tells you everything you need to hear. He tells you that He chose you, thereby removing any idea that you have any choice in this. No matter how much you stall your awakening, you will inevitably return to the same spot and make the choice again. Why delay any further? The moment is always right here and right now.

“You are the light of the world.
A city built on a mountain cannot be hidden.
“And a lamp is not lit and placed under a bucket,
except on a lamp stand, giving light
to all those who are in the house.
“This is how your light
will shine before humanity,
So they can see your good deeds
and glorify your Father in heaven.

Let your light shine bright today. You don’t have to know how to do it, let God do it for you. The light is in you, and by giving it away, by shining it, you recognize that this light is indeed in you. Because you immediately receive what you give. This is an experience that is not of this world, it goes beyond your ideas and convictions altogether, it is from out of time. It’s exciting, you are renewed every moment, and you recognize with absolute certainty: I am the light of the world.

Good Friday

Today is Good Friday and it is the day you decide to go beyond the story of the crucifixion and remember the resurrection. Jesus is very clear about this in his Course In Miracles.

The journey to the cross should be the last “useless journey.” Do not dwell upon it, but dismiss it as accomplished. If you can accept it as your own last useless journey, you are also free to join my resurrection. Until you do so your life is indeed wasted. It merely re-enacts the separation, the loss of power, the futile attempts of the ego at reparation, and finally the crucifixion of the body, or death. Such repetitions are endless until they are voluntarily given up. Do not make the pathetic error of “clinging to the old rugged cross.” The only message of the crucifixion is that you can overcome the cross. Until then you are free to crucify yourself as often as you choose. This is not the gospel I intended to offer you. We have another journey to undertake, and if you will read these lessons carefully they will help prepare you to undertake it.
~ Ch.4 The illusions of the ego

It couldn’t be more clear that it is indeed Jesus who is giving you A Course In Miracles, and He is trying to tell you something. The first chapters are loaded with clarifications of the New Testament, and they are indeed helpful to you in your awakening. If you believe that the world you see is real, if you believe that you are bound by the laws of the world, if you believe that your brother is separate from you, you are crucifying yourself. You are binding yourself to a heavy cross. You don’t have to do it anymore. The choice is yours.

Miracles are seen in light, and light and strength are one.

It is God’s strength in you that is the light in which you see, as it is His Mind with which you think. His strength denies your weakness. It is your weakness that sees through the body’s eyes, peering about in darkness to behold the likeness of itself; the small, the weak, the sickly and the dying, those in need, the helpless and afraid, the sad, the poor, the starving and the joyless. These are seen through eyes that cannot see and cannot bless.

Strength overlooks these things by seeing past appearances. It keeps its steady gaze upon the light that lies beyond them. It unites with light, of which it is a part. It sees itself. It brings the light in which your Self appears. In darkness you perceive a self that is not there. Strength is the truth about you; weakness is an idol falsely worshipped and adored that strength may be dispelled, and darkness rule where God appointed that there should be light.

Jesus is asking you to stand with Him in His resurrection, as He is standing with you today. You are not alone in this, the whole universe responds to your single decision, your little willingness, to let go of the world as you see it and to remember your creation as the holy Son of God.

My resurrection comes again each time I lead a brother safely to the place at which the journey ends and is forgot.  I am renewed each time a brother learns there is a way from misery and pain. I am reborn each time a brother’s mind turns to the light in him and looks for me. I have forgotten no one. Help me now to lead you back to where the journey was begun, to make another choice with me.
~ Workbook review V

The Light Has Come

Today you are looking at the review lessons in the recognition that this is your holy week. This is the last week of Jesus Christ on earth, before He resurrected. And this is what He says about it in your Course In Miracles:

This week begins with palms and ends with lilies, the white and holy sign the Son of God is innocent. Let no dark sign of crucifixion intervene between the journey and its purpose; between the acceptance of the truth and its expression.  This week we celebrate life, not death. And we honor the perfect purity of the Son of God, and not his sins. Offer your brother the gift of lilies, not the crown of thorns; the gift of love and not the “gift” of fear. You stand beside your brother, thorns in one hand and lilies in the other, uncertain which to give. Join now with me and throw away the thorns, offering the lilies to replace them. This Easter I would have the gift of your forgiveness offered by you to me, and returned by me to you. We cannot be united in crucifixion and in death. Nor can the resurrection be complete till your forgiveness rests on Christ, along with mine.

Jesus is asking you this week to resurrect along with Him. Reading the Course He makes it clear to you that the crucifixion is not His message to you, but that the resurrection is. His resurrection is your resurrection. Every time you offer forgiveness to a brother, you offer it to Him. He asks for your forgiveness, so that He may return it to you. This is the completion of the resurrection. And this is what you practice today.

The light has come.
In choosing salvation rather than attack, I merely choose to recognize what is already there. Salvation is a decision made already. Attack and grievances are not there to choose. That is why I always choose between truth and illusion; between what is there and what is not. The light has come. I can but choose the light, for it has no alternative. It has replaced the darkness, and the darkness has gone.

I am under no laws but God’s.
Here is the perfect statement of my freedom. I am under no laws but God’s. I am constantly tempted to make up other laws and give them power over me. I suffer only because of my belief in them. They have no real effect on me at all. I am perfectly free of the effects of all laws save God’s. And His are the laws of freedom.

This is your holy week. This is your resurrection. Jesus is with you now. Allow Him to show you what this Holy Week truly means and how it can be used for your awakening. The light is with you. The light has come. You are under no laws but God’s and not restricted by time and space in any way. The resurrection is happening here and now, it is happening in you. Let this be your experience and let it be extremely personal: it is between you and God.
